Photography
Believe it or not, photography is one of the most important parts of successfully selling antiques online. Historically most antiques were purchased when a dealer or a customer walked into your shop and saw something they liked. You had the opportunity to talk about the piece and they had the chance to size it up. Today things simply don't work that way, and with the physical separation of clients from galleries it's harder to use charm and atmosphere to engage buyers and make sales. With the rise of websites like 1stDibs, DECASO, InCollect and Houzz, online is quickly becoming the primary sales channel for antiques. As such, that makes it more important than ever for your pieces to stand out and shine against the competition, and a Polaroid just won't cut it. When a client is looking at a page with 20 rows of sideboards or clocks, potential buyers have fractions of a second to decide what they want to click on. What do they make those decisions on? Images! If your picture doesn't catch their attention it's unlikely they'll ever get to see your piece, regardless of how spectacular it is.
Shadows, angles, lines, colors... There's a lot more to communicating the beauty and functionality of a piece than just picking up a camera and pointing it. And that's something we can help with. We will bring your items to life, give buyers a reason to stop and a reason to inquire. Below is some of our photography work on a variety of antiques. We'd love to help you showcase the inventory you've worked so hard to compile.
